Ecology
Ecology is the study of the relationships of organisms to their environment and to other organisms. Even a distinct discipline of biology such as ecology can be broken down into many subdisciplines such as community ecology, population ecology, avian population ecology, etc.
An animal’s habitat includes both the living (biotic) and non-living (abiotic) characteristics of the environment in which it lives. Abiotic characteristics include light, moisture, physical structure, temperature, etc. For different abiotic factors, animals have a tolerance range within which they may be able to survive. The optimum range for a particular factor is the values of that factor at which the animal will be the most successful. Each species needs several factors to be within the tolerance range to be able to survive, and if one factor is not present in sufficient amounts, it becomes a limiting factor that prevents that species from being able to survive in that environment.
In order to survive, animals must obtain energy. Nearly all animals (with the exception of a few protists) must obtain all of their energy from other sources (from things they ingest), and are said to be heterotrophic. Organisms that are capable of producing their own energy (usually from photosynthesis) are autotrophic. A description of the total energy intake of an animal and the ways that energy is used or lost is called an energy budget.
A large part of many animals’ energy budget is used in regulating body temperature. Temperature affects an animal’s metabolism (speed of chemical reactions in its cells) and the overall activity level. Heat can be lost to the environment from radiation, through convection to the air and through evaporation. Heat is gained from solar radiation, radiation from objects in the environment and through metabolic heat production. Animals may use several different techniques to reduce heat loss or to reduce metabolic activity to conserve energy.
Torpor is a relatively short period of decreased metabolism and lowered body temperature that allows animals with high metabolic rates to survive periods when they are not feeding.
Hibernation is a much longer period of decreased metabolism and lowered body temperatures that may last for several weeks or even months. True hibernation occurs in small mammals (bats, rodents, etc.), and the animal’s body temperature may decrease to 20° C, and thermoregulation continues around this new point.
Winter sleep occurs in some larger animals (such as bears) where the body temperatures drop but not by large amounts, and the animal can become active very quickly.
Aestivation is a period of inactivity in animals that must keep from becoming too dry. Most animals that aestivate enter a burrow during dry periods, and some even produce a protective “cocoon” to prevent dessication (drying). This practice is relatively common in amphibians, reptiles and many invertebrates.

Whatever they want to do at the time
People working but happily working, someone pulling people out of moat
Which side do you think is better?
The other side of the hedge, however the people of the age who read this may have thought differently. Fact that the other side of hedge doesn’t go any where people can look at it more like a cult or something on those lines (end scene races by not sure what happened) towards end he’s still not convert and is longing for the road as apposed to the other side of the hedge
Without struggle but w/o victory so yes it has no struggles it has no victory
Really difficult for a modern reader or writer to embrace the other side of the hedge
The weak choice to stay on the other side of the hedge and the strong choice to go to the road.
Does the main character die in the end?

So much to do so much work so much stress finals auditions homework papers readings anything and everything imaginable blogging eating sleeping seem to come last and are not really a priority at all which saddens me making time for friends is becoming exhausting although I love the time I see them I hate it when I have to worry about doing different things afterwards like sacrificing sleep or having a quick meal instead of a relaxed one It just seems to never end I spend countless hours in the library more than I usually do and I can not study in my room these last few weeks it seems to be much to distracting which is a total bummer but it is what it is and I guess this is how college is supposed to be I mean no one said college would be easy and that’s fine by me. Anything worth having is worth working for so I’ll work for good grades and a degree and on top of everything else I need to figure out what I want to do with my life!!!!!! Major stress on that one I have no idea everything sounds fun or appealing and I would be good at most things but I just really do not know I have always thought that this life is so temporary that it does not matter what I do because life is too short but I want to do something I love but then the question becomes WHAT DO I LOVE??? I love God of course but what else? What can I make a career out of?

“love is fragile. And we’re not always the best care-takers.”
Awesome quote from a great movie and book. The last song!!! And how true it is love is fragile and sensitive and kind and so many things (hit first Corinthians 13 up) love means putting someone else needs above your own. But as humans we are selfish and we are not the best car-takers of it. We often fail at love we often falter we many times choose to put our selves first out of selfish desires and even though we may realize it later we still may have broken someones heart someones love along the way. (I am so scattered right now my thoughts are going one hundred miles an hour so I am not really sure if this is making sense but it is all good we shall see later) love is hard to understand there is no black and white with love though many people try and make it that way there is a huge gray area for we love more than one person usually for instance if you have 2 kids and a husband you love them both but things can become complicated at points. you can love someone but love god more so if they cause your to faulter with your relationship with god you let them go it hurts and it would prob. hurt them as well but your love for god should be more than your love of man your love of any earthly thing anything at all

Everything is starting to come to a close as the end of the year is coming. I can not wait for summer yet a big part of me will be left at freed a big part of me is not quite ready to go a big part of me knows that the real world is so much harder than the freed world. It will not be the same back home. Yes I have some amazing friends but it will not be like living at freed. I will not be able to walk down the hall and tell my sister in Christ when I am struggling with something and seek advice, yes they will only be a phone call away but that is quite a bit different than being able to walk down the hall two feet opening the door with out knocking because you know if your really close friends knocking is not needed haha lol you just waltz in and can talk about anything whether it be dumb and about your day or something serious something weighting on your heart but either way it is only two feet down the hall yet home for me is five and a half hours away along with many other freedies distance is far for me. But the summer will have challenges and you grown with challenges which helps your faith get stronger helps your faith grow and that I am excited and grateful for that I will look forward to

Matthew 8:12 says, “ but the sons of the kingdom will be cast out into outer darkness. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.” Have you ever seen those old western movies where someone is shot and they’re like “oh no we have to pull the bullet out of there!”? They give them a stick or a rag to bite on while they pull out the bullet, then you see the person who was shot, tears streaming down his face, teeth grating on whatever is in his mouth, give out a sound that tells you, “man that guy is hurtin’!” Then once the bullet is out, he gives out gasping sighs of relief, the camera fades to black, and the when the next scene starts, it’s like nothing ever happened to him. Well in hell, it’s not like that. It’s not just a temporary suffering. Revelation 20:10 tells us that it’s an eternal torment that never stops. It’s day and night… 24/7… 365… forever. You won’t really be able to measure time like that, but you get the idea that it’s nothing but eternal pain, suffering, and torture. So now we see this aspect of extreme physical pain you have to endure, but there’s an entire mental side of it too. See… I don’t think that that weeping is just because of the physical pain.
When we were kids, we all fell off our bikes at some point and just started balling our eyes out. Those tears we cried weren’t just because of the pain was it? No, it was because we wanted our mommy or our daddy. We wanted someone to come scoop us up and carry us home. We often describe heaven as the home of the soul. If we go to hell, our soul is not at home and we have wasted the entire purpose of our souls being created in the first place. Mark 9:47 says, “And if your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out. It is better for you to enter the kingdom of heaven with one eye, rather than having two eyes, to be cast into hell fire.” Ok, stick with me here, it’ll make sense in a minute. In this verse, the original Hebrew word for hell or hell fire was Gehenna. This word originates from a place called the Valley of Hinnon. This was a small valley outside the city of Jerusalem that was, at one time, a place to sacrifice babies by fire to the pagan god Molech. Later it was turned into a place where they threw all of their trash and carcasses from animals and dead criminals. It was basically a giant trash heap that was constantly being burned by fire. Now we can tie this all together. See, if we’re in hell, then not only are we not home where we are supposed to be, we’re stuck in this giant, smelly trash heap. And why? Because of insignificant, stupid things we did on this earth. In this verse, Jesus is basically telling us, “So what if you have to make sacrifices? It’s better for you to give up this small thing in your life and come to heaven and be with me, because if not, you will be stuck in a giant trash heap forever.”
Jesus made it a point to talk about hell quite a few times throughout His ministry. He obviously wanted to warn us about what hell is like and help us to avoid it. Now I’m not saying that not going to hell should be our main motivation to be Christians. It should always be our love of God that pushes us through life, but next time you’re about to say something you’re not supposed to, go to this party you know you shouldn’t go to, or look at something you know you shouldn’t look at… ask yourself… “Is it worth it? … Is it worth the eternal suffering I may have to endure? … Is it worth throwing away the purpose of my soul that Jesus died for?” Knowing what it will be like, I think we will find that the answer is no.

So often we think ”man I can’t wait to get to heaven. It’s going to be awesome!” But we rarely think about the other end of the spectrum… Statistics show that 88% of Americans believe in God and 86% believe in heaven. But only 70% of Americans believe in Hell. See we don’t even like to think about it, much less TALK about it. But it’s an aspect of our Christian lives that is so important to our full understanding of our salvation. Jesus came to this earth to die for us so that we could live in heaven with Him, but he also did it so that we would not have to spend an eternity in Hell. So for the next few minutes, I want to talk about what hell is really like and what God wants us to know about it so that we can understand our salvation from all angles.
Turn with me to Revelation 21:8. *read verse* The most common description of hell throughout the Bible is that it’s a lake of fire. If you jump into a lake here on earth, you get soaked. You are completely surrounded on all sides by water. In hell, it’s not like your just standing by a few campfires; you’re completely engulfed in flames, surrounded by people who, on earth, might have been considered the worst of the worst…the murderers… the adulterers… the non-believers (although there are no atheists in hell. Thank you Blake Tucker for that quote. Once they get there, I’m pretty sure they will know God exists) And it’s not just that. Psalm 11:6 describes a tempest of fire and brimstone raining down on you. I don’t know if you have ever been on a lake or the ocean during a storm, but it’s scary. Waves crashing, boat rocking… it’s no fun at all to be stuck in, so I can’t even imagine what it would be like with fire, but God gives us a little insight into what it’s like.

God’s Mighty Power
When I heard that this was my topic I immediately thought of the Apostle Paul. In Acts chapter 22 you hear Saul tell his story
The first thing that came to my mind was Saul. Saul was a man who persecuted the church who persecuted Christians. (Acts 22) you get to hear about Saul’s live turning around you can see where God decided to work through him. Acts 22:6-8 can you imagine how crazy that would be to just hear a voice out of nowhere. I know that I couldn’t acts 9- so not only is this a crazy experience but everyone around him is just like who’s this crazy dude. As you continue on you see Saul was told to arise and go into Damascus, and there you will be told and things which are appointed for you to do.
Do a review of acts 22
Imagine how hard that was for Paul to turn around from persecuting God to following him. That is a big lifestyle change he had to leave everything behind. Everything! But God’s mighty power can turn anyone’s life around
David was a man who committed adultery with Bathsheba. But when confronted he owned what he did he didn’t try to blame it on anyone else he could have easily said oh well she shouldn’t have been bathing in the open or my servants shouldn’t have brought her to me but in 2 Samuel 12:13 is says
“So David said to Nathan, “I have sinned against the Lord.” And Nathan said to David, “The Lord also has put away your sin; you shall not die.”
But even with all this David was a man after God’s own heart Acts 13:22 says
“I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after My own heart, who will do all My will.”
How awesome is that to be known for all eternity as a man after God’s own heart!
On our second outing to go mudding, (well at least the second time since we have been at Freed Hardeman University) we got stuck twice!!!!! There were a ton of us considering we just had one truck =). The first time we got stuck we got out in no time, but the second time we were as you say STUCK!!! Me and Morgan (yes another story with Morgan) some how managed to be in the front seat where we can up with the brilliant idea to go through a puddle that had clearly not been disturbed and we of course told Josh who was driving go through that one!!!!! Yea we can make it!!!! DUMB!!! That’s all I am saying we are dumb haha but it is ok because we had a blast!!! Although on a down side when we did get stuck we had water past the doors so those of us in the truck could not get out and we had to keep our foot on the gas to make sure water did not get in the engine. As we waited for Charlie to bail us out AGAIN we realized water was filling the floor board slowly…umm…problem haha but luckily Charlie got there quickly and no damage was done. We then proceeded to the car wash and then began to have a mud fight! Talk about a fun night! Mudding Mud fight getting stuck! And we just barely made it back for curfew! So Yesterday was an awesome day in my book!!! =)
Yesterday was a crazy day! We went witnessed and participated in making music, went mudding, talk to the police, and so many other things. But on this blog I want As me and my friend Morgan pulled into the Wal-Mart parking lot we were dancing, giggling, and just having a great time! She parked her car and as were walking in we were the witnesses of an accident. That is just our luck! We were in a hurry and end up being witnesses, go figure. As we walk towards the scene, the truck that had backed into and straight up taken out this little black car, the guy just drives off! Slowly looking around the guy just pulls out of the parking lot and just drives off!!! WHO DOES THAT!!!!???? I mean really who on earth feels the need to run and just leave that kind of damage for someone to find? I mean talk about a crap day, walk out of Wal-Mart minding your own business BAM my car has been hit and just left for me to find and pick up the pieces to! LAME! Back to the point. As we watched him drive off I grabbed my phone called 911 as Morgan was talking to another car who also witnessed the accident went to go get the trucks license plate number! We talked to the police and the Wal-Mart security finally just leaving the shopping we needed to do at Wal-Mart. As we headed inside, I thanked God for everyone being ok, fellow Christians in the world, and good friends who always seem to make you laugh even in tragedy. (even if this wasn’t really a tragedy ;)
